  • Definition of Rural and Rural Economy:
        A rural area is an open swath of land that has few homes or other buildings, and not very many                     people. A rural areas population density is very low. Conversely, Many people live in a city, or urban          area. Their homes and businesses are located very close to one another.
  • Rural economy is an integral and important part of the economy. It is intricately inter-linked with the urban economy in production and consumption both through market and non-market channels (Jackson and Collier, 1988; Chiripanhura, 2008).

  • Rural economics is the study of rural economies, including: farm and non-farm industry, economic growth, development, and change, size and spatial distribution of production and household units and interregional trade, land use.
